S D Memorial Senior Secondary School, a pioneering co-educational institution affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), is named in loving memory of Lt. Sh. Shiv Dayal Taneja, who inspired and touched the hearts of all who knew him during his brief life. He was known for his dedication and boundless energy, and the school is a fitting memorial to him.

Lt. Shri. Ravi Taneja was the founder of S D MEMORIAL EDUCATION & WELFARE SOCIETY, GURUGRAM. He laid down its foundation together with his wife Mrs. Kamlesh Taneja in the year 1990 with the sole aim of providing quality education to students coming from varied socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
He was a man of simple living and high thinking. He inspired us with his knowledge, warmth and passion for education. He had an insatiable appetite to foster excellence and innovative practices in education. His work was exemplary and of the highest professional standards.
He was a philanthropist and a true Karm Yogi – a great visionary, focused and generous. The school is a living model of his legacy, rich in Dedication, Determination, Discipline and Devotion.
He was a charismatic leader and had an incredible way of interaction with staff members, students, and parents. He achieved his dreams and aspirations, and set ablaze a path of enlightenment.
